FORMAT: RIAA CERTIFIED GOLD SALES AWARD. COMMENTS : This is an authentic RIAA CERTIFIED GOLD SALES AWARD. To commemorate the sale of 500,000 copies and presented to Believe In Music (our stores). The RIAA certification date was 10/18/1985. It has a 17 X 21 black wood frame with a sawtooth hanger. It is double matted with black over blue. It has a black cardboard backing. Please see the photos for grading details. THE RECORD USED FOR THIS AWARD IS A SIDE 1 STAMPER FOR CYNDI LAUPER’S “SHE’S SO UNUSUAL”. THE NUMBERS AND LETTERS THAT APPEAR IN THE DEADWAX ARE A NEGATIVE MIRROR IMMAGE (see photos). THE CATALOGUE NUMBER IS AL 38930 WHICH IS FOR CYNDI LAUPER. SIDE 1 CONTAINED THE HIT “TIME AFTER TIME”. USED IN THE PRESSING OF “SHE’S SO UNUSUAL”. It was not uncommon for award companies to use whatever materials they had on hand (including vinyl), in the making of these awards. In fact, I have found it to be more than likely. It does not affect the value of the award.
