I Walk The Line was actually Johnny Cash’s first number one hit on the Billboard Charts. It reached #17 on the US pop charts, remaining on the record charts for over 43 weeks. But it was released originally by the legendary Sam Phillips of Sun Records in 1956 on 7 and 10 inch singles. It wasn’t until Columbia cut Johnny’s “I WALK THE LINE” album in 1964 that he was certified GOLD on the album level on July 14th, 1967. Originally recorded in the Sun Studio’s in Memphis on April 2nd, 1956, Johnny wanted it to be a nice slow country “drawl” recording but Sam Phillips wanted to dig into that new “Rockabilly” sound that he was so successful with that new kid – you know, “Elvis the Pelvis” kid. I Walk The Line was recorded over and over and over on Johnny’s albums and on re-releases even after his death. Just one more legendary Cash smash that will live throughout music history…. I have about 5 or 6 Johnny Cash awards… Some with other artists, such as Waylon, Willie, and Kris. THE “I WALK THE LINE” FLYER IN THE PHOTO PRESENTATION IS GLOSSY AND FRAMED. This GOLD record is part of the “OVERSTOCK” supply from my father’s estate, which I inherited upon his death at 92. He was the premier gold & platinum awards maker for 50 years on Music Row and beyond in the music industry. I list between 75 and 100 items at a time.
