More than 40 years ago I received this plaque celebrating the success of the Rita Coolidge single “(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher and Higher”. I received this while working for A&M Records. Although not an RIAA Gold Record Award, the plaque and the sentiment are appropriate as a commemoration of the success of the single. Many of us worked on earlier albums and singles by Rita Coolidge and all of us were thrilled when she finally broke through to a larger audience. She was a pleasure to work with. The plaque honoring this 7″ single measures 16″ tall x 13″ wide x 2″ deep. The plastic case is all black as is the background behind the gold single. For the record, the song was written by Gary Jackson, Raynard Miner, Carl Smith and Billy Davis and was a hit for Jackie Wilson in 1967. Wilson’s hit was produced by Carl Davis. A decade later Rita Coolidge’s hit version was produced by David Anderle and arranged by Booker T. The plaque is a perfect addition to the wall of a home studio, entertainment room, office or study. On the way to a million sales, Rita’s hit single reached #2 in Billboard and #1 in Cashbox.
